Last Night

Oops...

My new way to tell if I fit in... From shows at the Sunset

Lady across from me. Most of her conversation with her friends was about tv shows... TV? I have vague memories of that...

Painting I'm working on now... Taking a break to update the blog.

Putting up paintings at a place where everyone knows you.... So many hugs!

I eventually had handsome company. He was just off being a rockstar for a bit.

Dinner conversation

Who is more annoying? The guy explaining Angry Birds in detail or me drawing while my food gets cold?

It's cold in Seattle

Nicole was cold. I thought her little quote was cute... Like a bunny

How to annoy your boyfriend

They don't like it so much when you don't pay attention to them...

Penguins

I like birds.... but I like some birds more than others.

Turtle

I like to draw animals thinking the things that I'm randomly thinking.

My face hurts

This stupid pair of boots.... Every time I put them on I spend the whole day thinking "Gee, I hope I don't slip in these and fall down AGAIN." Luckily all the other times I have slipped in them I was walking downhill. This time I was walking uphill. The result was not pleasant. I'm now spending the rest of my week hiding from the general public.

Nap

Because it's easier to criticize other people...

I like birds

Priorities

Everyone has different priorities and ideas of what having fun is.... sometimes it's just not possible for us to understand each other.

If you can't say something nice?

Because everyone thinks they are an art critic some days.

Evil Gnomes

When it comes to things that I can't explain, I like to attribute them to the works of magical creatures.

In this case, evil gnomes were clearly to blame for my stomach ailment. Just like wizards run the internet and pixies make my cell phone work.... right?

Not Black

So, I'm at my boyfriend's apartment a few weeks ago determined - DETERMINED! - to get some of my website looking decent (if you don't know what I'm talking about, check it out here). He was going to be at work all day (and he was, alllllll day) so I thought it would just be great if he came home and saw that I didn't spend the day sitting on my butt watching tv. Things just didn't really go as I had planned.

Umbrella that Rains

And then sometimes I'm just pretty random:

If you like this you can buy a necklace with it here.

Birds...

This is a common theme.... There is a reason this is one of my favorite songs.

Daddy Issues

So, I'm sitting at home over my brief summer break from school last year (Community College for Horticulture - so ya, I know about plants too) and watching a popular cable television show. After about three episodes of watching one of the lead characters fall in love with someone that was obviously her dead father's replacement, I drew this:

Not Art

Part of being an artist is going into a lot of places - galleries, coffee shops, etc - to check out other art. It's humbling and inspiring. It can also be incredibly frustrating. For example, you may run into something like this...

which frankly looks like doodles on a high school cheerleader's binder to me. While I believe that there is room for a wide range of skill and style in the professional art community, I also believe that some people need a serious reality check.

End of a Bad Day

The end of a bad day.... or sometimes just a mediocre one.

Frustrated

Many of my sketches are about being frustrated.... Here's a start:

Naive

Another day in the park with my son.... Reflecting on what turned out to be me really being naive. At least I learned from it:

Danish

It was suggested that I do a blog with all of my sketches in it and I figured it sounded like a good idea.

Here is the first in my sketchbook. It was done while at the park with my son about a year ago:
